ABS is an amorphous terpolymer of acrylonitrile, butadiene and styrene. Usual compositions are about half styrene with the balance divided between butadiene and acrylonitrile. Using different combinations of these monomers, wide-ranging different ABS types can be manufactured offering a wide spectrum of different properties by means of branching or copolymerization. ABS is an excellent choice for applications which require high impact resistance, strength and stiffness. ABS is an ideal material for machining structural components and pre-production prototypes. Because of its good balance of properties, toughness-strength-temperature resistance coupled with its ease of processing, ABS has a very wide range of applications.
