  • Nylon PA6

Nylon 6 General Purpose Shapes (Natural & Black)

    • Cast Nylons are a range of polyamides produced by a casting process involving the anionic polymerisation of caprolactum. This process allows the production of semi-finished plate, rod, tube and custom castings that are largely free of internal stresses. Natural Cast Nylon is the basic grade from which all other grades of Cast Nylons stem. Generally accepted as the primary engineering polymer, Natural Cast Nylon is suitable for virtually any plain bearing application not to mention a huge range of other applications for which this versatile grade finds a use. By varying the conditions of polymerisation the mechanical properties of Cast Nylon may be altered to suit specific applications and the addition of various additives, fillers, lubricants and colorants.
    • Compared with extrusion grades of polyamide (Nylon 66), Cast Nylons stand out with their improved mechanical, thermal, and chemical resistance properties. Specifically the material has a higher tensile, compressive and impact strength as well as an improved resistance to creep and heat ageing. The reasons for these improved characteristics are high crystalinity and a remarkably higher molecular weight. Due to low water absorption, mechanical properties and dimensions are more stable making it suited for components that have to meet closer tolerances. Cast Nylon has the ability to operate effectively without the need for lubricants and has an increased resistance to wear of over 5 times that for plain bearings manufactured from non-ferrous metals. As is the case with virtually all Nylons it is easy to machine, pleasant to work with and relatively light weight - 1/8 that of brass - making the handling and fitting of large components manufactured in Cast Nylon a relatively easy matter.

    Nylon 6 MoS2 filled Shapes

Nylon MDS shapes contain finely divided particles of Molybdenum Disulphide (MoS2) to enhance their load-bearing capabilities while maintaining the impact resistance inherent to cast nylon products. This grade in particular possesses an ideal combination of strength and toughness, while also exhibiting excellent mechanical and electrical properties. This powerful combination of characteristics makes Nylon MDS an ideal material for use in gears, bearings, sprockets and sheaves throughout the construction and heavy equipment markets.

    Nylon 6 Heat-stabilized Blue Shapes

Heat stabilized blue Nylon 6 (often referred to as MC 901 or HS Blue) is a high-performance cast nylon specifically formulated to maintain its physical properties at higher operating temperatures than standard grades. The addition of heat stabilizers allows this material to resist thermal-oxidative degradation, effectively extending its continuous service temperature to approximately 250°F (121°C)—a 10% to 15% improvement over standard cast nylon.

    Nylon 6 Oil-filled Shapes

Nylon 6 Oil-filled PA6 is a self-lubricating, oil-filled polyamide that is an ideal solution for industrial applications in the conveying and processing industries. This grade in particular exhibits higher toughness and limiting pressure velocity when compared to unfilled grades and also offers a low coefficient of friction for a wide range of applications including bushings, bearings, roller wheels, valve seats and seals. It increases the load- bearing performance of the material when compared to unfilled nylons and reduces the coefficient of friction.

    • MAIN BENEFITS
      • Low coefficient of friction
      • Self-lubricating
      • Good wear resistance
      • Improved dimensional stability
      • Low moisture absorption
      • Enhanced load bearing
      • High Young’s modulus
      •
